Projects I've built & shipped
Each one started as a real problem — for me, my family, or my community. They're all live. Tap "The full story" on any card for the why, the how and the detail.
Musick
musick.com.au
Australia's entire live-music scene in one place — thousands of upcoming gigs, venues, set times and weekly what's-on guides, right across the country.
Data aggregationSet timesSEO at scaleAutomation
What it is
A national gig guide that pulls together live music from thousands of venues into one searchable place — capital cities and 100+ regional towns alike.
What it does
- Tracks thousands of upcoming gigs across every Australian state and territory.
- Its standout feature: actual set times — search an artist, gig or venue and see exactly when everyone plays.
- Weekly "what's on" guides, regional town pages, trending artists/venues and last-night recaps.
- Free tools for bands, venues, promoters and photographers to get involved.
Why I built it
Finding live music outside the big cities is genuinely hard, and set-time info barely exists anywhere. I wanted one honest, free place that covers the whole country — including the regional rooms everyone else ignores.
DroneFishing AU
dronefishing.au
Honest, hands-on fishing-drone reviews — tested on real Australian surf, not spec sheets. Every recommendation is backed by a drone I've actually flown and a fish I've actually landed.
Content & SEOBuyer guidesCatch logsCASA/legal
What it is
An independent, practitioner-run review site for fishing drones, judged for Australian surf conditions rather than marketing specs.
What it does
- Hands-on comparisons of the major drones (Aeroo, SwellPro, Gannet) for real beach use.
- Gear that survives bait drops in the suds — rods, reels and rigs, tested and re-bought.
- Catch logs with named beaches and exact rigs — the proof behind every call.
- CASA rules and per-state fishing law explained in plain English, kept current.
Why I built it
Most "best fishing drone" pages are written by people who've never put one over the back of a wave. I fish the Fleurieu and the Coorong, so I wrote the honest version: what works, what breaks, and what isn't worth your money — and I say so when I haven't tested something.
What's Next?
whatsnext.rexe.au
A free, science-based career-direction tool for people who are genuinely stuck — real psychometrics matched against 1,000+ Australian jobs, then synthesised by AI into a plan that actually fits you.
PsychometricsAI synthesisO*NET + AU job dataFree forever
What it is
A career-direction quiz built on validated, peer-reviewed instruments — not personality colours or spirit animals.
What it does
- Holland Codes (RIASEC), Big Five (OCEAN) and Schwartz Work Values — real, validated tools.
- Matches your profile against 1,000+ occupations filtered through live Australian wage, growth and demand data by state.
- Returns 8–10 fitting careers with pathways, day-in-the-life snapshots, honest reality checks and a 30/90/365-day plan.
Why I built it
I have two daughters in different versions of "stuck" — one in hospo wondering what's next, one in Year 11 choosing uni, TAFE or work. No book is tailored to either of them or knows the Australian job market. So I built it for them, then made it free for everyone.
Men's Mental Health AU
mentalhealth.men
Straight answers on men's mental health — no fluff, no judgement, written for Australian blokes. Plain-English guides that explain what's going on and point to real help.
Content architecturePlain-EnglishHelp pathwaysSelf-help tools
What it is
A no-judgement men's mental-health resource covering 50+ topics — from anxiety, depression and addiction to separation, job loss, grief, anger and asking for help.
What it does
- Explains what's actually going on in plain language, the way it shows up in blokes specifically.
- Every guide points to real, concrete help — including a "not sure where to start" path and "worried about a mate" guidance.
- A private, on-device self-help track for people who want to work on it at their own pace.
Why I built it
Too many Aussie blokes carry this stuff alone because the help out there felt clinical, preachy, or just wasn't written for them. So I made the plain-English version: what's going on, what to do, and where to get real help. There's no wrong door.
Rexe
rexe.au
Verified, not just claimed. An adaptive AI interview that produces an honest, calibrated read of how someone really builds software — strengths and gaps. A credential built on honesty.
Adaptive AI interviewCalibrated scoringShareable reportsFull SaaS
What it is
A skills-verification platform that runs a short, adaptive interview and grades real ability — whether you're a deep systems engineer or someone who ships products by orchestrating AI.
What it does
- A conversational interview that follows up on your own answers and digs for lived specifics, not textbook recall.
- Every skill gets a calibrated status and confidence level — never a single fake pass/fail green tick.
- Produces a clear, shareable report an employer can actually trust because it doesn't overstate.
Why I built it
A 2026 job opening gets 250+ AI-polished applications and employers can't tell signal from noise. Traditional interviews also miss people who genuinely ship with AI. Rexe verifies real experience and stays honest about what it couldn't confirm.
City to Surf Results
city2surf.rexe.info
A searchable historical archive of the world's largest fun run — every runner, every finish time, back to the very first race in 1971. 320,000+ results and growing.
Data digitisationSearchArchivalHeritage data
What it is
A complete, searchable record of Sydney's City to Surf — the historical results most people assumed were lost to time.
What it does
- Search by surname (and first name) to find your place and finish time across every year in the archive.
- Covers 1971–1988, 1996–97 and selected recent years, with more being added.
- 320,000+ results, with the 1970s data preserved from publicly published media of the era.
Why I built it
The early results of an iconic race — from 1,500 finishers in 1971 to tens of thousands — were scattered across old media and effectively unsearchable. I digitised and preserved them so anyone can look up their own piece of that history.
Solar Pays Off
solarpaysoff.com
Instant, no-email energy calculators for every US state — solar payback, EV charging cost and AC running cost — built on real public data and funded entirely by display ads.
Programmatic SEOPer-state data engineAstro staticAd-monetised
What it is
A suite of three instant energy calculators — "is solar worth it?", "what does it cost to charge an EV?" and "what does my AC cost to run?" — rendered for all 50 US states plus DC.
What it does
- Live calculations from your real numbers — power bill, miles driven, AC size — against your state's actual electricity rate and the 30% federal solar credit.
- 160+ pages of genuinely-different per-state data (EIA rates, NREL sun, IRS credit), not spun templates — programmatic SEO done honestly.
- No email, no lead-capture wall, nothing leaves the browser. Funded by display advertising, not by selling your details.
Why I built it
A deliberate revenue experiment: rather than one big bet, build small, honest, genuinely-useful tools that earn passively through ads. US-targeted for ad value and engineered so every state page earns its place — proof that programmatic SEO and ad monetisation can be done without thin content or dark patterns.
Studio
studio.rexy.au
An installable progressive web app for running email newsletters — compliant double opt-in list-building and scheduled sending, designed to live on your phone's home screen like a native app.
PWA / installableDouble opt-inMulti-tenantNode + SQLite
What it is
A mobile-first, installable web app (PWA) that runs the newsletter loop — from audience-building to scheduled sending — built to install to your home screen and work app-style, not just live in a browser tab.
What it does
- Compliant list-building: double opt-in signup that meets the Australian Spam Act, embeddable across multiple sites.
- Multi-tenant by design — one app, many newsletters, each with its own list and verified sender.
- Installs to the home screen and sends real email through a verified provider, on a schedule.
Why I built it
I wanted to own the relationship with my readers directly rather than rent it from social platforms — and to run it from my phone, app-style, wherever I am. So I built the desk to do it, mobile-first, and made it multi-tenant so it can power the audience for every site I run.
